Mr Glefy Furtado is an experienced Consultant Gynaecologist and Obstetrician, currently practicing as Lead Urogynaecologist at Wexham Park Hospital in Slough and Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot, Berkshire. He also sees private patients at Princess Margaret Hospital, Spire Thames Valley Hospital and Spire St Anthony’s Hospital.
Mr Furtado completed his medical degree at Goa University, India in 1996 and followed by his postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the same university in 2000. He later relocated to the UK and became a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2008. Mr Furtado also completed postgraduate fellowships in urogynaecology and minimal access surgery (keyhole surgery) and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2021.
Mr Furtado has specialist expertise in pelvic floor reconstruction, prolapse surgery, vaginal hysterectomy, laparoscopic total hysterectomy, open abdominal hysterectomy, myomectomy, hysteroscopic resection of polyps, as well as abdominal and transvaginal ultrasound scans in early pregnancy and acute gynaecology.
In addition to offering a full spectrum of gynaecological procedures, Mr Furtado provides private care for both low and high-risk obstetric cases, instrumental deliveries (ventouse/Kiwi/Forceps), and caesarean sections at Wexham Park Hospital. He is recognised and fee-assured with all major medical insurance companies, welcoming self-pay patients.
Beyond his clinical practice, Mr Furtado serves as an Examiner for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) exams and serves as an Equivalence Adviser for the Equivalence Committee for the RCOG, specifically involved in the certification of entry for the specialty route.
