Mr Manvinder Kalsi's specialities:

Mr Vinay (Manvinder) Kalsi was appointed consultant adult and paediatric urological surgeon at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust in 2015 where he is the Clinical Lead for Paediatric Surgery.

Vinay trained at Guy’s & St. Thomas’ medical schools qualifying in 1998. Having completed general surgical training in London & Surrey, his Urology training was in South London, Surrey and Sussex including Guy’s and St. George’s hospitals.

Vinay developed a specialist interest in paediatric urology early in his career and trained in paediatric urology at internationally acclaimed London paediatric centres including Great Ormond Street Hospital, UCLH and Evelina London Children’s Hospital as a specialist registrar.

He was appointed the Trust Clinical Lead for Paediatric Surgery at Frimley Health in 2017 and is deeply invested in the well-being of our younger patients. He has developed the paediatric urology service at Frimley Park and covers all areas of general paediatric urology including undescended testes, foreskin problems, hydroceles and hernias, hydronephrosis, vesico-uretric (VUR) relux, urinary tract infections, dysfunctional voiding, enuresis, haematuria and hypospadias.

His experience of functional urology is unique with his three years tenure at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London; treating patients with complex urological and neurological conditions. His impactful research played a pivotal role in the licensure of innovative treatments, specifically botulinum toxin (Botox) injections for neurogenic bladders. Vinay’s time at Queen Square also granted him unparalleled proficiency in urodynamics and experience in incontinence surgery, experiences he now brings to the forefront in his role at Frimley. Consequently, at Frimley, he is part of the regional pelvic floor MDT, performs video-urodynamics as well as incontinence procedures.

Vinay also possesses extensive experience in adult urology, with a particular focus on urinary tract stone disease and endourology. Having dedicated a year to at the esteemed stone unit at St George’s Hospital, London; he has attained proficiency in all facets of stone management. His expertise includes extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy and ureterorenoscopy. Additionally, he has a keen interest in minimally invasive techniques for treating benign prostatic enlargement.

Benefiting from a strong academic background, Vinay has presented his work extensively both nationally and internationally. He has received several awards, including a distinguished research grant from the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. His contributions encompass over 30 peer-reviewed articles and co-authorship of 10 book chapters. Vinay remains actively engaged in ongoing research, having recently led on a regional prospective review on acute scrotal pain in the paediatric population for the Thames Valley and Wessex ODN.

Vinay is multilingual and fluent in Punjabi, Hindi, Gujarati, Urdu, Swahili, and French.
