Mr. Anthony Sakellariou is a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon with over two decades of experience, specialising in disorders and injuries of the foot and ankle. Since 1999, he has held a Consultant post at Frimley Park NHS Hospital, where he focuses on foot and ankle surgery, while also maintaining a private practice at BMI Healthcare, Parkside Private Suite, and Spire Healthcare.
Mr. Sakellariou obtained his medical degree from University College London in 1987. Following extensive surgical training in London and Winchester, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS England) in 1992. He further specialised in orthopaedic surgery, achieving the FRCS (Orth) in 1996 and the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in 1999. His subspecialty training in foot and ankle surgery was completed at prestigious international centres, including Vancouver, Canada, and the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Advanced Foot and Ankle Training by the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.
A respected figure in the field, Mr. Sakellariou served as President of the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (BOFAS) from 2014 to 2015, having previously held roles as Honorary Secretary and a member of the Education Committee. He has also contributed to the European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS) Education Committee and regularly reviews articles for the esteemed journal Foot and Ankle International.
Mr. Sakellariou has a passion for education and training, having established and jointly led the Surrey Foot and Ankle Fellowship Programme. This 12-month clinical and research training position provides advanced education for orthopaedic trainees specialising in foot and ankle surgery. He also lectures nationally and internationally on various aspects of foot and ankle surgery.
